HAIR // dark brown[break]

SKIN // brown[break][break]
ATTIRE[break][break]
Kenzi has a very colorful personality, and this is very much reflected in her clothing. She wears a lot of bright colors and is particularly fond of glitter and sparkles, so much so that she DIYs her own sparkly clothing (this usually doesn’t turn out well, but it doesn’t stop her from wearing them). She likes tank tops and t-shirts, and she’ll usually wear a stylish but muted jacket over them to balance out the bright colors and the glitter. She likes loose shorts and pants with lots of pockets to hide all her stolen goods, and especially likes to wear bell bottoms, just for the hell of it.
[break][break]
GENERAL[break][break]
At just over five feet, Kenzi is very short, although her personality makes her seem much larger. She has large brown eyes that always seem to have a mischievous glint to them, and a huge, warm, welcoming smile that she always wears on her face. She has a very large nose, which she is quite proud of, and medium-length, brown hair with tight waves that more often than not is a knotted mess splattered with paint. She is, in fact, often covered with smears of charcoal, chalk and/or paint, if not unintentionally then intentionally to let the world know that she is an artist.

[attr="class","hopelovetitle"]PERSONALITY
[attr="class","hopelovetop"]
Kenzi doesn’t care what people think of her, or at least, she cares that people believe that she doesn’t care what people think of her. She’s eccentric! She’d wild! She’s a free spirit! She’s adventurous! She does what she wants, she says what she wants. And while all of this is true, she really, really, really wants people to notice. And they do. She’s a loud person, not just in voice, but in character. She exudes an aura of confidence and charisma wherever she goes. She’s quick to make friends, and she makes a lot of them. She often manages to make very deep connections that last for a very long time. While she certainly wants people to notice how eccentric she is, she never puts on a facade. She was taught from a very young age above all things to be true to herself, so she is. She shows herself to everyone, and while some may find her annoying, she can be incredibly down to earth and empathic, another skill her parents taught her, and makes true connections with people very easily. She’s very kind and very caring and if she sees someone struggling she will genuinely attempt to help.
[break][break]
Despite her caring nature, Kenzi has a mischievous streak a mile wide. She likes breaking the rules but in small ways, harmless ways, just to be rebellious. She loves playing tricks on people. She’s always had a penchant for pranks. Bewear Kenzi around the first of April, because she will find you, and she will prank you. She always saves her best pranks for April first, but that doesn’t mean she avoids doing so all year round. This mischievous behaviour has only increased exponentially since Kenzi discovered her powers. She’s taken to pickpocketing, although she (usually) gives her stolen goods back. She just likes to prove she can do it. She likes redirecting people’s attention, switching something around in their environment, and seeing how long it takes them to notice. She’s particularly fond of placing things on people’s heads and seeing how long they’ll wear it around before they notice and take it off. She’s also taken to performing magic tricks which, seeing as magic is all about misdirection, has been incredibly easy for her to master.
[break][break]
Kenzi’s true passion, however, is not pranking or pickpocketing or magic tricks, but art. Kenzi wants to be an artist, and she’s very good at it. She as an affinity for every medium, but she especially loves chalk pastel. She loves the color and the free-form nature of it. She especially loves the mess, how it gets everywhere, especially on her clothes. She considers that part of the art itself. While she can make figurative art, and she can make it very well, she prefers to stick to the abstract. She takes the advice of her siblings when it comes to art; it’s about capturing a mood a feeling a story. Over the years, and with her siblings’ direction, she’s become quite the master of this, although her unconventional artwork may be a turn-off for some people. And while she acts like it doesn’t affect her, rejection hurts, and it hurts a lot.

[attr="class","hopelovetitle"]HISTORY
[attr="class","hopelovetop"]
Kenzi’s parents, united in their forward-thinking, atheistic, liberal ways left their friends and family behind and immigrated to the United States from the middle east when they were in their early twenties. Where in the middle east? They would never say. They had a line that they would tell their children, that they instilled in them when they were young: “You are not your ancestors, you are not your ancestry, you are you and you can be whatever you want to be.” And they accepted it. Neither Kenzi nor her two older siblings ever got curious about their heritage as they considered it completely unimportant to their identity. They were American, as much as uber liberal, forward-thinking, ultra rebellious Americans can consider themselves to be.
[break][break]
When Kenzi was born, her parents knew they wanted to call her Kenzi, because they liked the name MacKenzie, but not the “Mac” part and they felt the “e” at the end was superfluous. So they threw caution to the wind and, unlike their two previous children, gave her an unconventional name, which Kenzi is quite proud of.
[break][break]
Kenzi has two older siblinging; Andrea and Robert (although he goes by Rob), who are six and eight years older than Kenzi respectively. Her siblings played a huge role in her life, basically acting as her cooler third and fourth parents. Not that her first and second parents weren’t cool enough. They were always very close to their children. They never talked down to them, they always told them the truth, they let them be privy to mature content such as adult literature and R-rated movies at a very young age, and more than anything, they let their children follow their dreams and supported them whole-heartedly, even if their dreams were...well...impractical to say the least. Rob wanted to be an actor growing up, he participated in all the school plays, in all the community plays, in every production he could be a part of, he even managed to get into a few commercials. Andrea wanted to be a musician. She quickly had the house cluttered with musical instruments of all kinds, she was in every aspect of the school band and performed in many concerts and she quickly took to composing her own music. Kenzi, as previously stated, wants to be an artist. All three siblings excel in their craft. They’re basically prodigies. Rob got the starring role in everything he auditioned for, Andrea can master every instrument almost instantly, and Kenzi can create stunning works of art. All three siblings wholly supported each other in their artistic endeavours, often working together to create tandem works of acting, music, and visual art. Although, as many know, it’s very difficult to sustain a living creating art.
[break][break]
Rob moved from their suburban home in the midwest to LA to pursue his dreams in his early twenties. There he met his wife, and a few years later had a daughter. He decided to move back home, settle down, and become a salesman, and a very successful salesman at that. Andrea at that point had begun her musical career. She was trying to make music that she felt was “true” and “artful” and “actually had meaning”, but due to the unconventional nature of her music, no producer would pick her up and she got very little traction online, so she took to making music for commercials and movies which, while it certainly paid the bills, absolutely drained her soul. Andrea got into some beef with Rob, thinking he gave up on his dreams and sold his soul to capitalism, failing to realize that settling down had made him very happy, and he was perfectly content with the life he had. Kenzi got stuck between the two siblings, but Andrea eventually convinced her to her side, and urged her to never give up on her dream of becoming an artist, of making true art.
[break][break]
Enough about her siblings. Kenzi, growing up, flew through school, not because she had especially good grades, because she didn’t, but she made friends so easily, it made school more like a social gathering than a place to learn. The only grade that mattered to her was her grade in art class, which she always excelled in. Her parents bought her tons of art supplies for birthdays, winter holidays (they didn’t strictly celebrate one winter holiday), even Valentine’s Day and Easter. When she wasn’t socializing, she spent most of her free time drawing, painting, creating art.
[break][break]
When she was around fifteen, a couple months after the Event, she’d just won the school’s Excellence in Art Award (again), and she was walking the gallery of the other winners, and she noticed very few people were stopping to admire her artwork. She felt a pang of jealousy and willed the people passing by her piece to stop and admire it, and to her surprise, they did. Soon enough there was a whole crowd of people around her painting, staring at it intensely. She thought it was odd, but was too proud of herself to think much of it. She began walking around the rest of the gallery, but when she came but to her piece, she found the crowd vacant again. This is when she became suspicious.
[break][break]
When she got home, she began experimenting on her parents, willing them to pay attention to something, and discovered if she wanted them to, they did, and she found if they were paying attention to one thing, they wouldn’t notice something else. After about a week of experimenting with her newfound power, she came to the definitive conclusion that she was a metahuman. She’d been telling her parents about her experiments as she’d been doing them, and of course they supported her wholeheartedly as long as she didn’t hurt anyone, which she didn’t. She’d heard about the boarding school in Washington and, partially wanting to learn more about her powers, partially wanting to escape Missouri and see if she could live on her own, decided she wanted to go there once the school year ended. Her parents, again, infinitely supportive, funded her journey to Washington and her new life at Evergreen Metahuman Boarding Academy.

[attr="class","hopelovetitle"]POWER
[attr="class","hopelovetop"][attr="class","hopelovesub"]
ABILITY[break][break]
Attention manipulation. She can focus someone’s attention on something or divert it away from something. This can render anything of her choosing practically invisible to whoever she’s focusing her powers on. The person won’t even be consciously aware that their attention is being forcefully diverted, they’ll only find whatever Kenzi wants them to focus on especially interesting or whatever she doesn’t want them to focus on especially uninteresting. She can also sense what someone is focusing their attention on.
[break][break]
LIMITS[break][break]
She can only control the attention of up to about twenty five people, and the more people she uses her power on at once, the weaker it is. She cannot influence the thoughts or opinions the person has on whatever they’re forced to focus on. The more direct her action, the harder it is to divert their attention i.e. it’s easier to divert their attention away from a tap on the shoulder than her drawing on their face. If she stops actively making the target focus or not focus their attention on something, their attention will return to normal. When sensing what someone is focusing on, she can’t read their minds if they’re focusing internally. She can get a sense that they’re focusing more internally than externally, but she wouldn't be able to tell what it's about, what emotions they're having about it, etc.
[break][break]
WEAKNESSES[break][break]
Her newfound power has made her a very overconfident pickpocket/prankster, and although this is not without good reason, it can lead to her pulling off some pretty risky hijinks.
